I installed the 10.18.10.3960 drivers at the end of last month - still on the REV A00 display. It seems to have improved the behavior when powering off. So far, every time I powerd the screen off and on again, it came back. The same cannot be said for the display going to sleep.. there it is still hit and miss. As for the resolution switch, that seems to have improved too in the power off and on scenario.
