Hi Diego,
much more stuff to riddle about:
Yesterday my system brought me a BSOD with STORPORT.SYS, after installing RSTe 3.6.x from the downloadcenter. I uninstalled RSTe and searched for alternatives, and guess what I found:
ASUS offers much more versions of RSTe and RST for their x79-boards than you do. They have a BETA version which seems to work, but I played risky and installed their RST 11.7 driver (no enterprise!), and from then on the system runs like a charm. OS is Win8 Pro x64. So RST is VERY compatible with x79-boards.

In addition I found a newer chipset identification utility: http://dlcdnet.asus.com/pub/asus/misc/utils/Intel_Chipset_VistaWin7_8_VER9321014.zip
Both links are compatible with Win7 x64 and Win8 x64, probably x86, too. So please try if you do not believe me, you should not encounter any errors ( I did not).
Another side-question:
Would I void my warranty if I would try to do the ROM-mod by myself? RST ROM fits better with RST software, I think.
Yours
